Cultigen

What is a cultigen? Cultigen is the name given to organisms that don't have a wild or uncultivated counterpart, particularly cultivated plants such as bananas or salvia divinorum. The reason a plant might not have a wild version is because it's species has been domesticated so long ago that the plant's ancestry is a mystery, and it's wild varieties are long since extinct.
